About Limassol

The City and Region
Limassol is the second-largest city in Cyprus. It is the largest in geographical size, and the biggest municipality on the island. The city is located on Akrotiri Bay, on the island’s southern coast. In recent years the area has become one of the most important tourism, trade and service-providing centres in the area.

Limassol is renowned for its long cultural tradition, and is home to the Cyprus University of Technology. A wide spectrum of retail, sports and leisure activities, museums and archaeological sites are available in the city, and consequently Limassol provides an excellent residential and rental property opportunity

The nearby marina at Limassol is a huge investment in the area and has been designed as an exclusive waterfront development. No expense has been spared to create one of the most modern and luxurious marinas in the world.

The Limassol Marina offers exclusive restaurants, shops, fine walkways and fantastic views. The dining facilities combine traditional tavernas, stylish restaurants and waterfront bars and cafes. The integral shopping experience offers a comprehensive range of designer boutiques and specialist outlets.

Tourism
Limassol, historically southern Cyprus’s main port and industrial centre, is now emphatically multicultural thanks to a huge, post-1990 influx of Russians and other nationalities, and has always basked in a reputation as the island’s venue for high living.

Its often elegant old quarter focuses on its produce market, surrounded by tavernas and bars, and an equally diminutive medieval castle, the latter enveloped by a former carob-pod mill refitted as an eating, drinking and exhibition complex.

Russian investment in Limassol is vast. It is estimated that Cyprus’s Russian speaking population is now 35,000 – 40,000 with many choosing Limassol as their preferred area of residence encouraging a prolific Russian tourism sector in the area.

Development in the Area
Limassol is the location of an exclusive International Marina construction project estimated to cost in the region of €350 million.  An exclusive waterfront development designed by a world-renowned team of architects and engineers, the local economy is anticipated to experience significant growth by the generation of employment both within the marina complex and also within service industries within the city.  The marina combines exclusive residential dwellings, many of which are being sold to Russian, European and Arab investors, the state-of-the-art marina and exclusive restaurants and shops, to create a lifestyle uniquely shaped by 'living on the sea'.

Just a stroll away from the heart of Limassol, the marina is designed to blend seamlessly with the city’s historic harbour, old town and medieval castle. With its breathtaking views, and outstanding range of facilities, Limassol Marina is destined to become the most exclusive marina resort in the Mediterranean – and one of the finest in the world.

Climate
Limassol has a Mediterranean climate with hot and dry summers and cool rainy winters, which are separated by short springs and autumns which are mild and pleasant.

Education
There are over a hundred educational institutions in the city. Limassol hosts Saint Mary's school, a Catholic private school open to all religions and races, as well as other private schools.

Healthcare
In Limassol, as is the case all over Cyprus, there is the choice of attending either a government general hospital or a private clinic. The general hospitals in the area are the Limassol General Hospital and the Limassol Old General Hospital. Both of these facilities feature intensive care and emergency room facilities.

Retail Facilities
Limassol offers a plethora of sophisticated retail facilities. International retailers, smart boutiques and designer label havens are abundant, in addition to traditional Cypriot shops selling locally produced goods.

Limassol also boasts a large shopping complex (MY MALL). Since opening its doors in 2009, MY MALL has revolutionized the shopping experience in Cyprus and become a leader in retail, entertainment and leisure attractions. MY MALL is one of the top tourist destinations in the country as well as one of the most recognizable brands in the region.
